Eden, by Adam Hare

Blurb: Terra Two was a good way to finally indulge a topic I have wished to explore for a long time within my work, and I have created a fully written and illustrated book themed around one question: What is the Garden of Eden? What does it look like? And is it the same for everyone? That question was clear and the answer is no. Throughout my research into the past and present I quickly learnt through both written accounts as well as through paintings and drawings that the description and entire visual appearance is widely different from the next. Each is either an ideal interpretation of the individual, which will be heavily affected by the background, cultural experiences as well as historical period of which said person or persons lived in, and this will change how they view and perceive the Garden of Eden. And that was the main point of my project, not to answer what it is but to highlight how it is viewed and interpreted by different people based on their experiences of life and how they view the world is beautiful in their own right. Each of us is unique and that is the most interesting and beautiful thing of all.

Adam Hare is a Northeast based illustrator who studies at York St John University. He is fascinated in creating work surrounding themes of heritage, historical costuming and narrative, through either watercolors or collage, using found imagery as well as historical sources and motifs to bring his illustrative work to life. And hopefully one day he will be able to help bring history back into the foreground by keeping both the traditions and culture of the past alive through his art.
