Vanessa is a YSJ graduate with a degree in Literature Studies. She is an accomplished pianist and composer, and she combined her two loves of literature and music to write this interpretation of Le Guin’s The Left Hand of Darkness (1969).

What a wonderful piece, Vanessa, with all my favourite elements of science fiction themes – achingly yearning but purposeful and bold in parts. I love the nod to the Star Wars theme and the suggestion of determination across a long journey in the depths of Winter. Beautiful! Thanks for sharing it.
